MediaMarkt - The Worst Valentine's Day Gift
Situation Analysis
Valentine's Day puts immense pressure on couples to "find the right gift." Cliché gifts given in the name of romance but ultimately failing to deliver (plush teddy bears, heart-shaped pillows, sweaters that will never be worn) become symbols of disappointment, not the relationship. People fear facing the question, "Is this what you think I deserve?"
Strategic Pivot
This year, MediaMarkt is selling "guaranteed happiness" instead of "romance." We're humorously showing consumers that electronic gifts (headphones, phones, skincare kits, game consoles) involve "zero risk," while cliché gifts carry "high risk."
Insight
Let's face it, the phrase "Thought is enough" often said in response to Valentine's Day gifts is actually a polite way of saying "I wish you hadn't thought of that." It's a common trauma that everyone knows about but keeps quiet about to avoid hurting their partner's feelings.
Idea
We're turning this "romantic trauma" into a fun confession session. In a studio setting, we're filming a series of "Anonymous Valentine's Day Confessions" with people whose faces are blurred (so their partners won't recognize them).
